Pool Startup in Orange County, CA

New pool or new plaster — rebalance the water and protect new surfaces

Service overview

What to know about pool startup

New plaster cures underwater, so the first few weeks decide how the finish looks for years. Water left out of balance in that window leaves marks that no later cleaning takes back off.

Startup is the attention the surface needs while that happens: brushing the fresh plaster, testing the water often, and adding what a new surface actually calls for rather than what an established pool would get. We also set the pump and filter run times so the water turns over properly from day one.

If your pool has just been built or just been replastered, call before the fill if you can.

Where a startup lands in that range depends on the size of the pool and how many visits the new surface needs while it cures.

What's included

What a startup covers

Startup is the attention a new surface needs while it cures underwater.

  • Frequent water testing

New plaster moves the chemistry daily, so it gets checked far more often than a settled pool.

  • Brushing the new surface

Regular brushing while the plaster cures, so the finish sets evenly.

  • Equipment run times set

Pump and filter set to turn the water over properly from the first day.

  • Orange County coverage

Available across Irvine, Tustin, Newport Beach, Mission Viejo, Orange, Lake Forest, Aliso Viejo, and Laguna Niguel.

Why it matters

The first weeks decide how the finish looks

New plaster cures underwater, and water left out of balance in that window leaves marks that no later cleaning takes back off.

Get the startup right and the surface looks the way it was meant to for years. Get it wrong and you are looking at the mistake every summer.

What we do

Different attention from a normal service visit

A new pool does not get what an established pool gets. The chemistry is checked more often, the surface is brushed more often, and what goes in the water is chosen for fresh plaster.

We also set the pump and filter run times, which is the part most often left on whatever the builder had them at.

Timing

Call before the fill if you can

The best time to talk to us is before the pool is filled, so the first days are covered rather than caught up on.

If it is already full, call anyway. Most of it can still be put right in the first couple of weeks.

"As a first time pool owner, I really appreciate how Austin and the team have addressed all of my concerns and thoroughly explain our pool workings. We also needed to urgently replace the pool pump after our home purchase and David was very efficient and helpful at recommending a pump and installing it promptly. Highly recommend for pool maintenance needs and repairs in Orange County."

"After frustrating ordeals with other co's, we were seeking a company that is detailed, dedicated, trustworthy, competitively priced and will listen to our concerns, instead of just trying to sell us on what they deem necessary. We primarily needed a co for weekly servicing, including brushing, chem balancing, pump-filter maintenance & especially vacuuming our pool & spa weekly (rather than waiting for it to be in desperate need, thus causing problems to ensue). So far they've been pretty consistent & have maintained great communication & also detailed reports. So long as this continues (especially consistent vacuuming + other upkeep, without undue price hikes), then our next reviews w/ update should be just as positive for the OC Pool Cleaners team & service provided!"

"I highly recommend Martin’s Pool Service to anyone in Southern California looking for reliable and high-quality pool care. Martin is exceptionally responsible—he always shows up on time, follows through on every detail, and consistently keeps my pool in perfect condition. His customer service is outstanding as well. He communicates clearly, responds quickly, and genuinely cares about making sure everything is running smoothly. I especially appreciate his thorough checking system; he never misses anything and keeps me updated with what he’s done and what the pool needs. It’s rare to find someone this professional and trustworthy. If you want peace of mind and excellent service, Martin is absolutely the person to call. Highly recommended!"

"I had a fountain full of algae. Their team came and drained and cleaned it immediately. They also now take care of our fountain on a monthly basis. Very happy with their service. Would recommend."

"Martin, You were here 2 weeks ago and things have really improved. I run all 3 water features every other day for 5 minutes each. The water wall basin had algae in it, no algae at all! The water bowl with the problems is working great. The water level in the basin did not drop at all, same as you left it. Outstanding. Did not add any water. When the water bowl is on, there is no overflowing on the top of the wall, the water color is clear, no soap suds in the basin and water is clear! The other bowl is still working fine. Great work on the fixes you made. Perfect 10. Thank you very much."

Questions

Pool Startup questions

Common questions about pool startup in Orange County. Anything not covered here, ask when you book.

How much does a pool startup cost?

Most startups run $350 to $500. The range depends on the size of the pool and how many visits the new surface needs while it cures.

When should I book a startup?

Before the pool is filled if you can. New plaster cures underwater, so the first days matter most.

What is different about water care on new plaster?

It is checked far more often, brushed more often, and treated for a curing surface rather than a settled one.

Does a startup apply to a replastered pool?

Yes. A resurfaced pool needs the same attention as a brand new one, because the surface is just as fresh.

Which Orange County cities do you offer pool startup in?

Irvine, Tustin, Newport Beach, Mission Viejo, Orange, Lake Forest, Aliso Viejo, and Laguna Niguel.
